The trend cycle loves to pull from the past. We have low-rise pants, chunky sneakers, skinny brows, lip liner, to name a few. At this point, I’m rarely surprised by what makes a comeback. But nothing could’ve prepared me for the trend Victoria Beckham just revived while celebrating her husband David Beckham’s birthday this past weekend.
In snaps from the celebration shared to Instagram, Victoria wore an angelic white slip dress that draped effortlessly over her posh frame. While I have a thing for slip dresses (iykyk), it was her hair that stopped me in my tracks. The former Spice Girl’s signature brown lob looked recently transformed into a dramatic ombré lob, with her dark roots fading into platinum blonde ends. A scroll through her Instagram reveals she’s been subtly teasing the look for a while—she even wore a version of it at her namesake fashion house’s fall/winter 2025 runway show earlier this year.
If you’re like me, you rocked ombré hair back in the 2010s, when it was everywhere. It hit peak popularity between 2009 and 2012, thanks to celebs like Khloé Kardashian, Rihanna, Jessica Alba, and Lily Aldridge. For the record: ombré is a coloring technique that creates a gradual shift from light to dark, giving the hair a shaded effect. It’s often confused with balayage, which is a highlighting application technique, not a coloring one.

Victoria’s revival of the trend proves that everything really does come back—but usually with a glow up. Her ombré has a fresh, modern feel that makes the 2010s staple feel cool again.
