Sydney Grace Eyeshadows Reviews & Swatches (“Summer’s End” Look)

    Blondie

Sydney Grace Blondie Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, light pink with strong, warm undertones and a bright, metallic sheen. It had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was denser without being too heavy or too firmly-pressed in the pan, which made it easy to apply and blend out. The eyeshadow yielded opaque pigmentation that stayed on well for eight hours on me.

The shimmer eyeshadows are more consistent in pigmentation with the majority of shades having opaque color coverage. The more metallic/sparkly the shade is, the creamier and more emollient the eyeshadow felt in the pan, which often yielded really smooth application and good adherence to the lid, though a few worked better with a fingertip or a dampened brush for true-to-pan color or to get a truer finish/sheen.

Most shades, however, worked well with brushes, and I didn’t have trouble applying or blending out most of the shimmer shades. The more satin to pearl like finishes tend to feel a little thinner but blend out well. These shades wore between eight and nine hours on me with some of the more foiled-like shades creasing noticeably at the end (and the less foiled-like ones fading).

    Plummet

Sydney Grace Plummet Matte Shadow ($5.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with warm undertones and a matte finish. The eyeshadow had opaque color coverage that applied evenly to my skin and blended out without too much effort. The texture was smooth, velvety, and slightly powdery in the pan, so there was a bit of fallout as I diffused the color along the edges on my eye. It wore well for eight hours before it started to fade noticeably.

    Formula Overview

The matte eyeshadows tend to be pigmented (typically semi-opaque or opaque, often buildable if they aren’t opaque) with a soft, more velvety texture that has slight slip but isn’t so thick that it gets difficult to use, applies unevenly, or has a lot of fallout. I’ve found that most of the matte eyeshadows apply and blend out without much effort but a few may take a bit more effort to diffuse along the edges. The matte formula tends to wear between eight and eight and a half hours on me.

    Midnight Amethyst

Sydney Grace Midnight Amethyst Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with neutral undertones and a satin sheen. It had good pigmentation with a soft, denser consistency that could have been more yielding but wasn’t too difficult to pick up and to apply to my bare skin. The eyeshadow blended out fairly readily on my skin, but again, it could have been a little more blendable. It stayed on well for eight hours before it started to fade on me.

    Collective

Sydney Grace Collective Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium, rosy plum with moderately warm undertones and a soft, frosted finish with a mix of gold and pink shimmer. It had excellent color coverage in a single layer, which applied well to bare skin with a smooth, even application that blended out easily along the edges. The consistency was soft, a little dusty in the pan, but wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily nor was it prone to fallout. It wore well for eight hours on me before I noticed slight fading.

    Commission

Sydney Grace Commission Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium, olive green with warm, bronzy undertones and a metallic sheen. It had an incredibly smooth, cream-like texture–dense but still soft, pliable–that applied beautifully to bare skin with a really bright, metallic sheen that didn’t emphasize my lid texture. The pigmentation was opaque and lasted nicely for eight hours before creasing faintly.

    Laura’s Memory

Sydney Grace Laura’s Memory Pressed Pigment Shadow ($6.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a light-medium, golden copper with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin, though there was a bit of fallout as I blended it out. The texture was soft, slightly more loosely pressed but not too messy in the pan, and it diffused well along the edges. It stayed on nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.
