The Kardashians are always on top of all the current trends, and that includes skincare fads too. On their show The Kardashians, both Kim Kardashian and Khloé Kardashian brought up their experiences getting salmon sperm facials. The trendy beauty treatment is all the rage on TikTok, and it’s garnered tons of attention for being a weird way to reap anti-aging benefits. Although it’s a little controversial and not a super accessible treatment, we have the Kardashians to live through at the very least.
By now, it’s more apparent than ever that the Kardashian fam has extremely expensive taste. Because beyond wearing countless one-of-a-kind designer ensembles and sporting every hair color in the rainbow, they’re always the first to put new beauty trends on the map. At this point, there’s practically no skincare treatment, hair trend, or popular product that they haven’t already dabbled with. So, when Kim and Khloé both admitted to getting the super viral salmon sperm facial, we knew it was a beauty treatment to take note of.
Even though a salmon sperm facial seems pretty absurd, there are tons of reasons why the Kardashians (and the entire internet) seek them out. For one thing, salmon sperm facials—which are carried out by injecting salmon sperm into the face—are said to reduce wrinkles and texture while delivering hydration. Everyone is always on the hunt for the best anti-aging procedures, which is part of the reason why stars like the Kardashians and Jennifer Aniston are willing to try out something as strange as a salmon sperm facial.
Like most beauty fads, however, the salmon sperm trend isn’t exactly backed by science. (At least, not yet.) While some patients have noticed positive benefits, the treatment isn’t exactly meant for every skin type. Not to mention, unless you’re a millionaire like the Kardashian sisters—dropping almost $1000 on a facial isn’t exactly reasonable.
