Is Selena Gomez Having Benny Blanco’s Kids?

Is parenthood in the cards for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco? The pair have been increasingly open about their relationship ever since their engagement, and now fans are wondering whether starting a family might be the next chapter in their love story.

The couple, who just released their joint album I Said I Love You First last week, got candid about their future family plans during a recent appearance on the “Jay Shetty Podcast.” Gomez couldn’t hide her enthusiasm about one day becoming a mom, sharing, “I don’t know what will happen, obviously, but I love children. I have an 11-year-old sister that I absolutely adore. I love making [children] laugh; they’re just so sweet. So absolutely, when that day comes, I’m so excited for it.”

What makes this revelation particularly meaningful is Gomez’s openness about the medical obstacles she faces. Last year, the Only Murders in the Building star shared a heartbreaking confession with Vanity Fair: “I unfortunately can’t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy,” she explained, referring to complications from lupus, the autoimmune disease she’s battled for years.

But don’t expect this hurdle to stop Selena. “It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it,” she admitted. “I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me.”

Blanco, for his part, seems completely smitten with how Gomez interacts with kids. During their podcast appearance, he revealed that his typically shy fiancée completely transforms around children. “Whenever there’s kids at a place, it’s the only time I see her do that. She immediately goes to the kids and has these conversations for hours with the kids,” he shared.

The producer even connected this quality to her early career roots, noting, “When you started doing this, you were a kid and that was your way to connect to people. You shaped so many young people’s lives, whether it was Barney, Wizards [of Waverly Place]…you’re still finding your way to do that.”

This isn’t the first time Gomez has spoken about her desire to become a mother one day. She previously told Time she planned to adopt if she was still single by 35. Now engaged to Blanco, her perspective has evolved, as she told Shetty that “making plans and trying to stick to them is silly because you don’t know what’s going to happen.”

The couple has been increasingly public with their relationship since going Instagram official in December 2023. They’ve been spotted getting cozy at Lakers games, stunning on the 2025 Oscars red carpet (where Gomez dazzled in a crystal dress), and supporting each other’s projects.

For Gomez, who’s weathered numerous health storms including a kidney transplant in 2017, motherhood represents yet another challenge she’s determined to face head-on. As she told Vanity Fair, “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby.”
