Does Russell Brand Support Trump & Is He MAGA?

Russell Brand has been making the rounds in the news cycle again after he was charged with rape. On social media, the British comedian posts his controversial takes and is very vocal about his love for Donald Trump.

More than a decade ago, Brand made the staunch decision to not vote in British elections. “It is not that I am not voting out of apathy. I am not voting out of absolute indifference and weariness and exhaustion from the lies, treachery and deceit of the political class that has been going on for generations”, he told BBC Newsnight, adding that elected officials only serve “the needs of corporations” and that an administrative system based on the “massive redistribution of wealth.”

Amid his accusations and investigation, Russell Brand moved to the United States. Brand told his supporters: “I don’t live in the United Kingdom anymore because I personally have experienced how the media, government and judiciary — if you suddenly become an inconvenience — will find ways to attack and shut you down.”

On April 4, 2024, Brand has been charged by London Metropolitan Police with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape and two counts of sexual assault after detectives started investigating 18 months back.

Does Russell Brand support Donald Trump?

Russell Brand is an avid supporter of Donald Trump and attended his inauguration in 2025. He talks about his affinity for the current President on his podcast Stay Free with Russell Brand on the platform Rumble. “In a straight choice between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, if you care about democracy, if you care about freedom, I don’t know how you could do anything other than vote for Donald Trump for precisely the reasons that they claim that you can’t,” he told RNC spokeswoman Elizabeth Pipko on an episode.

“They act as if a vote for Donald Trump is almost like you’re directly voting for Armageddon, like you see hysterical performances outside of courtrooms, endless MSNBC bombast,” the comedian continued.” But I’m starting to think that no, a greater threat to democracy is this kind of technological feudalism, that tells you that it cares about you and that it’s protecting vulnerable people, all the while increasing censorship, increasing the funding of wars, increasing the division between ordinary Americans.”

However in 2014, Russell Brand and Donald Trump had a public fight on Twitter (now X). The current President wrote, “@katyperry must have been drunk when she married Russell Brand @rustyrockets – but he did send me a really nice letter of apology!” Brand hit back with: “@realDonaldTrump are you drunk when you write these tweets? Or does that foam you spray on your bald head make you high?”

Russell Brand’s support for MAGA had also exposed other celebrities in supporting the President. Brand shared a photo of himself smiling with a red “Make Jesus First Again” baseball cap on Instagram — that was inspired “Make America Great Again” hats — and wrote “God Bless America” in his caption. Nicole Scherzinger commented, “Where do I get this hat?”
