Goat Girl – “Ride Around”: This track is from the band’s 2024 album, Below the Waste. It’s a song that builds and layers as it progresses, initially sounding dark but evolving into something different by the end.
Fleshwater – “Enjoy”: There’s a Deftones influence here the way they balance harder rock elements with gentler, shoegazey vocals that just works. Speaking of Deftones, you can catch Fleshwater on tour with them beginning February 25th in Portland, Oregon.
Samia – “Bovine Excision”: Although the title of this track is about as metal as it gets, the song actually has a chill, acoustic vibe. This is one of the songs released from Samia’s upcoming album, Bloodless. If you’re looking for something more aggressive, listen to the next song on the playlist by the band Mantar.
Childish Gambino – “Les”: A catchy throwback from 2011. You’ll be humming it all weekend.
Kelela – “Better”: Everything on Kelela’s live album, In the Blue Light, is great, but this song has been on repeat in the office. It’s tough to select just one track here, but this beautiful, soulful song wins out.
Tropical Fuck Storm & King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard – “Satanic Slumber Party Part 2 (Midnight in Sodom)”: The second track on 2022’s Satanic Slumber Party EP is a trippy beast of a song, basically a long, evil hard rock jam.
