On Monday, I mentioned the paracord bag was about to become my entire personality. And I wasn’t lying. 🙂
I’ve been dreaming about these bags for two summers. They’re from a small French brand called Braggy Bags, and even though the price isn’t outrageous, the international shipping made me hesitate for a long time.
It was the kind of purchase you add to cart…then remove from cart…then stare at wistfully for months.
But I finally hit purchase (and ordered two!). You’re going to see me wearing these two bags a ton this spring/summer. They have that I-could-go-hiking-or-go-to-an-art-gallery versatility.
Also, remember this post, where I shared about my dreamy day vintage shopping in Edinburgh? I’d mentioned that I’d gotten a 90s French rave maxi skirt — and here she is!
This skirt is cool in that sneaky way, where at first glance it looks like a regular maxi skirt — but when you look closer, you see the texture, the contrast, the detail. The top half is denim, the bottom half is ruched nylon! It just does something to me!
At first I wasn’t sure how to style it — I felt like I needed to pair it with equally unique, elevated pieces. But something clicked when I put it with my basics. What a delight to find that it plays so well with the pieces I already live in! I didn’t need to go out and buy a top, or new shoes, or figure out a whole new color palette. I could just throw it on with my regular tank and flip flops.
That’s become a guiding principle for me lately. When I add something new to my closet, I want it to work with what I already have — not reinvent my closet, just deepen it.
I already have a lot of really good basics — so when I do shop, I want pieces that connect those dots (and do it with a bit of visual interest and design). Both this skirt and this paracord bag feel like dot connectors.
What about you? What kinds of pieces would quietly pull your existing wardrobe together? What kinds of pieces would make the rest of your wardrobe make more sense? Can you think of something that would connect the dots of what’s already in there?
